Hello, guys!
I wanna show you something.
There's this #47 post full of intrigueing points.
And what do I respond to them? Nothing.
See? It can be done! Try it once (please).
You know, as long as he manages to awake your competitive motivations, his competitive motivations get a boost in response.
You'll never "tell off" this kind. No matter what argument you face him with, he'll always come back with a response which either by its content or its fashion serves his primary purpose: To satisfy the compulsion to always have the upper hand.
Okay, unfortunately my writing itself also constitutes a competitive response, but I couldn't find a way around it and I feel really bad about it...

Indeed, it is unfortunate that you felt the need to respond. So sad, another victim.
But you were also wise in your folly. You avoided typing his name, for, yea verily, _he_ (the dark one) is always lurking. _He_ (suffering from sense-of-humor-failure) waits under the cyber-bridges of the web forums. _He_ (the icky one) waits for the three billygoats gruff, or at least some unsuspecting web surfers. And as they pass by, talking with friends about the displays of erotic art before them, _he_ (of the kinda stinky breath) jumps out and screams in their faces, "Your deviant sexual practices are disgusting! Be ashamed!"
Now, in the real world, acting anti-social has consequences. If _he_ (most qualified critic) went to an art gallery, spit on the art, and insulted the other patrons, he (doesn't play well with the other children) would be asked to leave. Try that at a strip club and they wouldn't ask, they'd just introduce _his_ (arbiter of all thing moral) face to the sidewalk outside.
Not so in cyberspace. _He_ (with more morals than manners) can denegrate others lifestyles and opinions with impunity, and suffer only the zings and arrows of outraged forum-ers. And those can never hurt _him_ (feeding on the only attention he can get).
...
But I dare to name _him_ (now that I've run out of parenthetical statements):
MERLIN THE HAPPY PIG!!!!
There I've said it, let him do his worst!

I suspect that when a troll has been able to ruin a discussion the troll will move on to another list and seek the same satisfaction.
How does the list preserve itself as a venue for camaraderie and friendly idea exchange?
Unrestrained greed for wealth, power and prestige is the root cause of war, world poverty and the environmental devastation of our planet. Will you think about this? Please do.

Friendly idea exchange? It seems that the exchange of ideas is only friendly when there is conformity and uniformity. This is NOT and exchange of ideas, but simply a rehashing of the same idea(s) only spoken in different ways.
Agree = Friendly; Disagree = Troll.
Tell me, how many threads can you find on this site where the percentage of disagreeing "ideas" is anywhere close to the opposite?? Moreover, of those where disagreement is present, how many of those are met with vitrial responses from the masses??
Ahh, the urge to "fit in" at any cost is uncanny. Let me tell you a secret Mr. K, there is no such thing as "friendly exchange of ideas in this neighborhood. You either get in step with the group, or get your ass kicked....by the group. And perhaps even risk getting your membership cancelled and having your posts deleted by the administrators as well. Fortnuately, no BA staff memeber has shaken a finger at me although I did expect it. Now that's a testament to me of thier maturity and belief in free exchange of ideas. Censorship prevails, however, among the commons.
Well I have happy news for you all. I have cancelled my subscription to this site and it will end in just a few days. So no more posts from me to upset your sensitive sensabilities. Now you can rant, joke, insult and manufacture witty prose to your hearts' content without worry of a reply. [Cowards!] Note, however that my decision to cancel, however, has nothing to do with being unpopular here. I just happen to enjoy the amazing content at IFM so much more that this site's content has slipped off my radar. I am only here now to get that last tidbits of what I've already paid for.
I can only guess why so many of you, whom I assumed, were/are good decent people would find fault with one who took a stand against the promotion and lauding of sex involving children. Perhaps this is just a social phenominon of people going with the flow of the crowd and enjoying the comfort(s) of not standing out on the unpopular side. Or, maybe not. Maybe I just piss you all off to no end. I understand. I do. People want to enjoy their dark sides, i.e. viewing porn and discussing explicit sexual themes in peace. That enjoyment is lost when someone comes along and shines a light in places where darkness is preferred.
Believe it not, my sole purpose was to put the brakes on ANY discussion that even hinted at the acceptance of child pornography as OK. But then, that is really the responsibility of the site adminstrators and if they aloow it, or interpret it such discussion differently, then I am in no authoritative position to step in. I was not looking to piss off a whole forum/quorum of posters and start a gang-fight. That this happened is truely unfortunate and I can't stress enough how bad I feel about that. I do believe that most of you folks are nice people.
Finally, Ruby, I have rethought my approach to your commentary and I want you to know that I am not above apologising to you. Not for my feelings on what you said, but for how I dealt with it. While I do not condone or accept your position(s), I do believe that I did, as you mentioned, get far too emotional in my response. I could have made my arguement without the personal attacks and I should have.
For what it's worth, which may be nothing at this point, I do apologise to you publicly if anything I said was hurtful. I know you're a strong girl but even the strongest armor can be pierced sometimes and in the event that any of my words got through yours I offer a sincere apology.
Alright, enough on this. My point has been thoroughly made. It was great hangin with you all for a few months and I'm happy to leave you with a collective sigh of relief. I wish you all continued enjoyment her at BA and I wish you live(s) of success and fulfillment.
Be well,
The Troll

. . . . I just happen to enjoy the amazing content at IFM so much more that this site's content has slipped off my radar. . . . . .
Be well,
Poor IFM. I hope to god they don't have any contributors that look young.
I knew a guy on another forum who always closed his posts with "Be well" Do you own a PT Cruiser by any chance?

Ashmedi is an ancient god of rage and lust. I don't feel rage, but the lust part fits like a glove.
"Cheer up, things could be worse" somebody once told me. So I cheered up, and sure enough, things got worse.

I'm kinda glad I missed all that. I do have a few things to add, besides "I ain't 'fraid a' no trolls!"
One, I have no problem posting into such "fights," though I do try to be as careful as I can not to make things worse. I think anyone should feel free to speak up, without fear of fanning the flames.
Two, as to ruby's silence (obviously inaccurate) and the admins apparent permissiveness, I think a far more parsimonious explanation is the same as my own absences and delays (which are becoming longer and more frequent than I'd like) -- simply too much else to do. You know, better ways to spend our precious time.
... I'm sure it's on the radar, though. Maybe richard or lauren will comment after the dust settles.
And finally,
... and I am not going to engage in a religious debate here as I don't think this is the proper venue for that.
No, this would not be the proper venue for that. Such a thread would belong on the "general" side. It's only a matter of time. ...
