Frame by frame

Maybe this approach can help resolve some issues brought up in other threads.

Since I first joined BA, I've greatly appreciated two features of the DVD program I use to view the videos: a sliding time bar (that shows where you are at as you slide) and a pause that can advance frame by frame.  I could "skim" old videos to look for key moments or investigate others further.  I could hold the picture in a moment that just shines with a still brilliance nearly lost in the full speed experience.  I could extend my appreciation of a deliciously contorted face at the moment of transition when the orgasm takes over, or bask in the exuberant joy of a beaming smile.  In other words, that was good stuff.

Now, alas, I find I must throw myself at the mercy of this gracious forum community, in the hopes of recovering my lost treasure, and possibly (likely, I think) helping out a few other members in the process.

I know nothing much about the format .mpg other than that it allowed my viewer to do what it did.  I have yet to see anything other than quicktime run quicktime files.  This works fine for viewing the videos straight through and while logged into the site; clearly, my focus here is neither.  That leaves the .wmv format.  My viewer can run them, BUT :
-- no slide!  It can jump to a specific time, but only blindly.  And worse,
-- no frame by frame!  As far as I can tell, .wmv simply doesn't support it, in any viewer.

It's been made clear that an adjustment to the site is not the answer:

We're working on those annoyances, but we won't be retaining MPG's.  We are already doubling our workload where rendering is concerned, by providing 4 formats; adding MPG would make that 6, with added disk space and upload load.  (We just added a new RAID array to the server, and soon we'll have to get a faster uplink). While we understand why someone would want to hang onto an outdated, albeit universal format, it simply isn't practical for us to support that very small minority.  After all, with a little effort, anyone can play either WMV or QT, it's a matter of convenience.   With the supersize videos and Confessions, we'll be experiencing a substantial increase in traffic, another cost we'll absorb.   We certainly don't want to have to increase our prices; we've worked very hard to add value to your membership, funded by increased popularity of the site, but there are limits.  Sorry we can't please everyone all the time.

I must conclude that I am in that very small minority, since I don't just want to be able to play the videos.  I want to be able to dissect them.

No one wants or likes to be in the minority that gets left behind, but all may not be lost (yes, I'm waning dramatic -- must be something in the air ) :

If you don't care for wmv, you could try a video converter and make it into the format of your choice. ...

Now we're talking.

Although that sounds a bit cumbersome, it's well worth the effort for me, and I suspect I'm not alone (though others may have their own reasons).  Unless there's a way to get .wmv to behave like I want it, conversion sounds like a winner.

Please, anyone who knows, tell us more details about this converter idea.  That could give those of us who want it our .mpg's back (or whatever format people want), without adding any burden to the producers of the site.  Brilliant!

Well, now that I've stated my case, I'm going to go to bed and get some sleep, before I try to write an opera or something. . . .

It's hard to imagine that you don't lose quality after converting to a differently coded video format.

Dear readers,
The pictures show that any woman is beautiful when she is having an orgasm.
I do not mean the histrionics, but the extreme serenity just before and after.
And afterwards, they are their own usual selves again.
Just normal,everyday faces.
