Need Primer for New Format

Richard & Lauren: I see that there are several posts about the new format.  Some are very specific, depending on what type of software or computer you have.  I'm having a lot of trouble, after a trouble-free several months, but I'll send my personal questions through the tech-question channels.  You really need to put up a primer for the new site that everyone can read and that will cover the following topics:
1. What we have changed.
2. Why we changed it.
3. How, step-by-step, at a very basic level, to use it.

Check the 'about' link on the menu; it needs some changes but it's mostly there.
