Life is plenty of mysteries, then we need to find out once in a while who is who. Agonees can join the forum too and start other mysteries. Merricat, Ruby and many other girls (on overkill section) gave us their agony number.Being able to exchange ideas with them and have a face in mind is a great pleasure for all of us. I just start to wonder if Lauren really exists. Maybe it's Richard's trick to make the forum more appealing. Or if I am wrong then: what is Lauren afraid of?

Not that I can see any just reason me to be blowing anyones cover, given that I can, but let's face facts: If I submit my agony, my cover WILL be blown. I MUST expect that. Porn geeks in NYC has neighbours wathing porn too, and I'm NOT from NYC, believe me.

If I'm not 100% comfortable with my being outed as the local, regional or even national jerking geek, face, name and address, then I'd be VERY wise INDEED to:

Thanks Richard for your direct answer. However, everybody has his/her own way to express him/herself. If you are an artist, then you make painting or play or make music... etc. If you are a sport person, then you compete and participate in different sport activities. If you are the scientist type, you analyse, make relations between facts, try to explain the nature laws... Agonees are probably more of the artist type and they like to express themselves by showing up in pictures, movies, videos or in public show and they got for sure a certain gratification from that.
I can understand Lauren's case. She took part in the forum discussion by reacting to our comments and interrogations then in a way commit herself. She also mentioned she was into an early agony. We are use to read about what she thinks and in a way we know quite a lot about her and I like that and thank her for that commitment.That makes her a more friendly person since we know something about her. By indicating her agony number, Lauren is maybe afraid of being exposed to our judgement since her greater commitment to the forum with respect to other agonees. That's what I feel. As I said the other day, Lauren gave us too much and not enough. Then she is caught now with our desire to see her face. For us, wanting to see the face of somebody who commits him/herself in public is just normal. Politicians, artists, TV presentators and all public personalities are in the same boat. People want to see what they look like and it's legitimate. Even the Christ has an image.
Lauren, if by any chance you tell us the way to know what you look like, I can guarantee that you will be way more appreciated (you already are) and we will have a lot of endearment toward you. Promises.
Richard, remember we all express ourselves the way we feel the best for us which is related to what we are good at. Submit an agony is just not my bag of tea (I will get no gratification out of it) but if you chalenge me into high risk activities this is another story. BTW This my #100 post. Maybe I think too much. What do you think?

I'll spare you my long essay on this because I do think the "need to know Lauren" thing is being played in a good natured sort of way and I'm absolutely not answering for Lauren but offer a couple of quick thoughts for what they are worth, perhaps for discussion than for any other reason, no big conclusions offered, no implied criticisms either

This whole reveal yourself intimately to the masses game carries all kinds of risks, the artist has to decide what level of risk and exposure they happy to deal with. Control of perceived risk is quite hard with a medium as wide as the internet. I'm kind of grateful that people like Richard and Lauren seem keen to create rare "safe" places.

I'm not saying this is going on here, but the whole "expect a bit of hassle" if you go seeking gratification from revealing yourself, doesn't sit so well with me.

I post images at a photosite, the people who know me there are a bit like this kind of community, capable of warmly respectful appreciation and even some good natured moments of flirtation without feeling the need to take it any further. It's a fine balance or even a tricky dance - I think that when the music belongs to the artist, it's best to let them "lead".

But I have to say, risk is beautiful, risk is being alive. Remember the great explorers. Without them, no modern America, no modern Australia... because they took the risk. Revealing Lauren's physical appearance could move the site from art to commerce, like putting the author's picture on the back of a book. We buy into the site and what they (we) are creating here because it isn't like the other boring crap in pornoland. Putting a face to her could reset the whole tone of the site. That said, I vote for #13 -- even though I really don't want to know.
