Recent numbering problems

Hello!

There are a lot of different topics about the recent numbering problems. I propose we use only this one now, to have all information and reports in a single one. Hoping that it won't last for too long before things go back to normal.

Here is what I have now (but numbers can change due to fixes, so this may not stay up to date):

Two different contributors have the number 5554, and some have two different numbers (one for confession, one for agony).

Richard told the numbering code is complex, and apparently fixes have not worked until now, and the problems propagate to almost every new contributions.

As it may cause difficulties now and in the future (how will we be able to refer to a particular contributor without confusion, for example), I have a proposition. I don't know what it's worth or if it's even possible, but I'll go for it.

Only the new contributions have numbering problems, and nothing seems to fix it, so... big problem, big solution!
Maybe you could, admins :
1) Remove all the new contributions from the pending list (only revivals for a while).
2) Wait about 8 days so that every newbie agony is released, for contributors who already have confessions.
3) Fix the numbers when there is no pending Newbie left (good order, only one contributor per number and one number per contributor, no missing number, and agonies linked with confessions).
4) Start again with Newbies (maybe at a higher rate for a few days to compensate the ones who were not released during the "newbies break"), making sure the code knows exactly were to start again, and that agony is always linked correctly with confession.

Wouldn't this fix the problem, if it comes from particular numbers which have been added in the pending list then shifted or removed?
At least we could start next year with convenient numbering, hopefully.

Any thought on that?

I don't follow your "same as" notations. As far as I can see we just have a few missing numbers, no duplicates any more?

Maybe it's not the appropriate terms (I'm not native English speaker, sorry for possible mistakes).

But for example, if you take the confession from November 27th, it's from a man numbered 5544. And his agony is numbered 5545. So in my list I copied above, I put both dates (confession and agony) on the line 5544, and just wrote that it's in fact the "same contributor as" 5545.

And I'm not sure what you call "duplicates", but for number 5554, there are two different women: first one has confession from december 7th (her agony was released on december 15th, as number 5553), and second one has agony from today, december 18th (her confession was released on december 9th as number 5555).

Hope this clarify things.

I think to reiterate Babell's point:

If you click on Agony 5545 and then click on artist number, it changes to 5544
Similarly, Agony 5553 is linked to confession 5554
Agony 5551 is linked to confession 5547
Agony 5552 is linked to confession 5548
Agony 5553 is linked to confession 5554
Agony 5554 is linked to confession 5555

So there is quite a mismatch in numbers, albeit no duplicates within either the agony list or confession list.

The problem seems to start after the agony of #5550, that got a not sequential number since her confession (forced manually for some reason?). Noticing it just in case it can help, maybe the software does not expect to find gaps in the numbering and that messed up things. Republishing all the videos since then, with #5550 in the right sequential order, might solve. Anyway the issue actually does not have any major impact on usability.

The last two agonies, from yesterday and today (5570 and 5571) seem to be the first ones in a long time which are well linked to their confession, without need to modify the numbers. That's nice.

In case this can help for the rest, I put back here what Ashmedi said in other forum, about remaining mismatches:
- Confession 5556 (from 16/12/23) is linked to agony 5567.
- Confession 5557 (from 18/12/23) is linked to agony 5568.
- Confession 5558 (from 21/12/23) is linked to agony 5569.

And in addition to those three, we also have 13 missing numbers, now:
5539, 5545, 5549, 5551 to 5553, and 5559 to 5565.
