Why won't the site allow me to download the new free sample?

I am currently a lapsed member, but will rejoin the moment I can afford to do so. I think the site software is determined to regard me as a member with a no-longer valid password, rather than as someone attempting to d/l a free sample. Maybe I am wrong. Site administrator? Thanks.

Hi Salsasalsa, perhaps you should try using a different browser? It may be that your current browser has, for some reason, retained a memory of your expired logon details, so trying another (Firefox is excellent) might be worth a go............?

Thanks, your Grace. I have little doubt that a cooky exists on my computer that identifies me to the site (and may even be at a level that overrides which specific browser I use - though this is unlikely, I believe). I had hoped the site would not check credentials before releasing a --free-- sample, though - Richard?

I will, in any event, follow your excellent advice and try another browser. I don't have Firefox Mozilla, which I know everyone swears by, but I do have another one.

Nope, the cooky does override the choice of browser. Thus, the site itself rejects me because I am a lapsed member, even to the extent of blocking free sample downloads

I really don't know, and since we're about to launch the new site code, we won't be able to investigate these annoyances - however I suggest you find the cookie and delete it. In Firefox there may be several.

Downloading the zip files wasn't possible for free trials anyway. You can play the WMV version in a standalone browser (needed to get decent video sie on a 15" screen at 1600x1200 resolution) with this URL: http://beautifulagony.com/preview/0358.wmv .

You can download using save and this link: 358.

Cookies for former members aren't a factor in this. You only get the password prompt if you're trying to download something from the member area. There isn't a preview version of the zip available to download. This may be one of the reasons why it's been noticed that previews use a lot of site bandiwidth: no save = repeated downloading and lots of bandwidth burning.

I am on MAC computer and wasn't able to download the BA videos (ZIP then MPG) with Explorer. But it works very well with SAFARi (a browser for MAC only). On the other hand, Safari and Explorer didn't work at all to get the videos from AW then I tried Netscape with great success. Conclusion: Having several browsers is better than one and they are all free of charge anyway.
