Should we free the nipple?

We've generally edited or cropped the frame on those occasions when a female nipple has slipped into frame, to concord with our "no nudity" credo. Some of you have found instances where they've missed our editor's eagle eye and seem to enjoy that - we certainly haven't received any complaints.

Lately we've been asking contributors to film a little wider because we're getting frustrated by the number of videos where the head disappears above the top of the frame. (It's interesting how many people don't watch their videos before submitting - we received one today which is basically a chin and neck video!) It's especially a problem when they're getting assistance, and get kind of pushed upwards. Consequently we've seen more nipples lately, and I thought I'd ask the subscribers what they thing about letting them through, with the contributor's permission. We've asked a few, and so far none have asked for them to be cropped, as far as I can recollect.

Richard First, I would like to thank you for your frank and honest observations, and what the contributors have said in response. It confirms what I have long thought...

I love the concept behind the site, and love the faces, expressions, features, and the raw emotions... Having said that, I also love seeing the nipples when a contributor shows them, and even love the sight of a contributor's knees when they appear in the frame... I have always lamented the fact that the nipples were blurred or cropped as they added a touch of human reality to the videos... Over the 15? years I have enjoyed the videos, I did enjoy the forbidden fruit when it happened, and I have made some posts lamenting the fact that I thought the editing was not necessary, but I always knew what I had signed up for, and just prayed the slips would continue...

I would be in favour of you allowing the nipples to be shown as they are and without editing...
and I would grudgingly agree that the contributors be asked for their consent in case they did not notice their slip.

Thanks for the opportunity to state my feelings again, I hope the rest will take some time to say something, and I hope that the contributors also answer this as their opinions and wishes matter, and Thank You to all the contributors who have brightened my days...

A personal view, so please don't jump down my throat: while I see no problem at all with the occasional nipple, I doubt if it would reinforce the values of BA if naked breasts became the norm.

As to framing of the image, I too am sometimes exasperated by contributors who don't make sure that their faces remain fully in view. Obviously, all sorts of things can happen when one is, so to speak, in extremis, and we need to be just a bit charitable when it does. Nevertheless, contributors ought to be more self-critical - after all, it's quite possible to place the camera a little further away, and the closest shots are rarely the most effective.

By the way, as has been pointed out before, this problem has become serious since the logo was placed at the bottom of the screen. Really, it makes far more sense to put it at the side because, unless the contributor is lying on their side, that's where there's most space. It seems such a shame when a beautiful O-face is partially lost in the writing.

I am rather against giving the contributors too much regulation about their image design, they may feel even more watched and this is rather cramping. There is also a certain appeal to simply showing the videos as they are submitted, with all imperfections.

I completely agree with uri here - but there is such a thing as foresight. In mid-flow all sorts of things may happen, but it doesn't take that much imagination to set up the camera sensibly in the first place. There are a few - and fortunately only a few - contributions here which simply don't work. Most are excellent and there's no sign that whatever degree of thinking-out that's been done beforehand has ruined their spontaneity.

Sorry to harp on this one - but, if I were contributing, I would be seriously worried about being obscured by the logo being at the bottom. It really doesn't leave much room for error, especially for contributors who tend to lurch forward (as many do) when they orgasm.

I agree with Ashmedi, adding that given the site's general lack of nudity, (in my opinion) the inclusion/sight of a nipple feels a thousand times more erotic than it would in an erotic video elsewhere. As I go through my favorites list, I find that most if not all of my true "top 10/all time favorite" videos include some sort of sight of a nipple (whether it's brief as in 4557-2, or fully blatant as in 3166). I could opine on this topic for paragraphs and paragraphs, but I'll summarize this way: I'm all in favor of freeing the nipple.

I think it would absolutely be beneficial to relax the no nipple policy, i think the no nudity rule is meant to protect the spirit of the concept and not necessarily to get in the way

Long time listener, first time caller. (i may have one or two posts, I don't even know, lol). BUT, I think that universally, the idea of "freeing the nipple" is a gender equality issue, as men don't need to cover up their chest because it isn't seen as sexual. I think, even here, in the few male-bodied videos I have seen that that has been the case. I imagine it would be a sign of progress to relax it, at least somewhat. Not necessarily to aim for it, since that defeats the purpose of the project, but as Tori said when someone is in extremis it is hard to control. Which, is kind of the point. My one and only caveat being asking the contributor first, because if they didn't watch their own submission for whatever reason, and are not comfortable with being naked on the internet, they may want it blurred out. After all, what we are receiving from contributors is a gift, not something we have a right to. Imperfections are one thing, but telling someone they MUST put their naked body online is entirely another. Maybe just add a question into the submission checklist or something. TL;DR Free the nipple, but consent is important.

Too much hairsplitting in my opinion. If the contributors send in a video with free nipples, that is their consent to show them, period.

I think yes. Even youtube allows nipples in some videos where focus of the concept is not nudity. It would be nice to see previous original recordings (like 3701 A2) too.

Women freeing their nipples doesn't create gender equality as long as there is just 1 man out there who'll say or do something to sexualise the freshly liberated nipple. And therefore, in practical terms, it's just not going to happen, in this cosmos, in our lifetimes.

Absolutely. It’s long past time to eliminate the double standard between men and women’s nipples. The appearance of nipples, men’s or women’s, is not going to compromise your standard of non-nude.
