Ok, this is something I've been wanting to ask for quite a long time. Why are all you BA peeps here?
What I find really intriguing about this site is that it's essentially a study of faces at the most exquisite and simultaneously excruciating point of physical endurance. You know, the bit just before you explode.
What made you sign up? We all push our bodies to their limits in a myriad of ways, from the (almost sexual) pleasure athletes experience when they break through the pain barrier to the perverse joy and fascination you can get from picking a scab. What makes BA so incredibly sexy? Is it just the fact that you get to see pretty young things masturbating for the camera? There's no denying the sexxx here, because these kids are fiddling with their bits, and that's always a bit hot. But what about the Agony bit?
Surely you're not just forking out your bucks for the purpose of titillation. Like me, you're interested in the pain too, right? In the interest of expanding our repertoire here in the forum I'd like to hear what you've got to say about the Agony side of things. About the ways pain makes you see beyond your ordinary perspective and spins you out to some random galaxy where artists and mathematicians and accountants and bus drivers can all see a bit of God. Here's a few totally random links to get you started:

I signed up after reading about this on Metafilter. Once I saw a couple of samples, I was completely hooked. At last, something truly erotic and sublime. On the internet no less.
I'm interested in pain as well and I play with it often in a healthy setting. I've been into SM and bondage play for years, but I'm often turned off by either the silliness or the outright brutality of most fetish type sites. I'm not sure why people think we need to be hit over the head with something in order to "get it."
When pain is delivered in the right situation it can be a religious experience. Just like the orgasm, there are so many levels one can play with. As far as SM goes, I would fall into the sadomasochist category. I like it from both sides. (although not all at once!)
It's difficult to put into words...
Pain takes you out of your mind. You have to concentrate on endurance and processing. Your body swims with endorpins causing a dreamlike state. Well, at least it does for me and some others I know.
And when it's all mixed with pleasure... well, let's just say I've seen a bit of God.

In as much as I'm a dirty old man, most of the agonees transport me to the days of my youth when I experienced these sights and sounds first hand.[So to speak!] I don't see any "pain" here. The "pain" on their faces is "pain" only in the way that a really good meal or a really fine piece of art is painful. It's just the "overload of the senses - intensity" thing. I always loved the sleepy little smile after the fact - I still do. I'm sure that there are those who need/want "extra" stimulation - De Gustibus.....!
Oh to be 25 and in love/lust again!!

Most prefer pleasure induced endorphins over pain induced endorphins.
Any body pursuing "shock" type only scenerio's on the body. (sometimes mixed with pleasure.) Is missing many other experiences in life.
Like acupunture, hypnosis, bioimagery control, kava, nutmeg, prayer, singing, hobbies, meditation, etc
Much like 3wheel in his older wisdom stated.

Both Pleasure and Pain take us out of our everyday . Give us a space where everything is quite or different . This site frames a feeling of such intensity that does that . A feeling that we all know , It is tastfully set and just so interesting . I am 25 and in lust/love quite a now and then . It is just really cool to look in at something you always usually see in a different context .

Looks like it's been quite a while since anyone has added to this pleasure/pain discussion. Very profound stuff. I like Bartholomew's "out of the ordinary" insight. And fear. There is a fleeting instant of some sort of fear, but I can't quite get a hold on how to describe it. But it's definitely part of the ecstasy.
What I can't figure out is how I ended up on this site having entered the keyword 'bus.'
