I don't see the WMV format offered for todays Agony and Confession ...
I hope that is a correctable oversight ...

Hey Ashmedi,
I'm sorry but we have indeed phased out the WMV format, along with MOV. From now on we will be offering FLASH and MP4 formats. MP4 is better quality and has greater compatibility, so it was the best choice for us. It also means less encoding and a faster workflow for the BA team which with the amount of content we create, was a necessary.
Let us know if you have any problems playing back the formats.

Sorry, Ashmedi. On the plus side though, all new content is available in 1280x720 High Def!
I'm curious why your preference is for WMV? MP4 will work for you too!

Well, speaking for myself, Flash and MP4 get caught up in seemingly endless buffering, whilst WMV played smoothly once it had buffered the initial bit of data. Video quality was fine on all formats, but WMV was simply much better at transferring data.
I'm sure there are technical reasons why I'm full of crap, but I'm just reporting how it performed for me.

hi ashmedi1 and flavboy, i know this is an old thread, but i too dont understand why you still want the old and outdated WMV video format, it was a hopeless format right from the start, and was always intended for playing on windows platforms originally.
it needed a very high bitrate to encode to and maintain decent video quality, and the video file size was usually double or more than the same video converted to h264 codec and wrapped in an MP4 container, which is what B.A are now doing with their 720p high def videos, and they are using a bitrate of around 3.0Mbps to 4.0Mbps which keeps them at a very reasonable quality, and maintains a reasonable file size for downloading.
although WMP will, or should play MP4 files, it can be a bit bothersome with some audio formats unless you install a codec pack, so the best player to use on your pc is MPC-hc (media player classic home cinema) which you can download free from the following link.
download it using the green "download" button near the centre of the page on your screen.
