Position... tummy or back?

It seems most woman lay on their back for their time in front of the camera, but others lay on their tummy or ocassionally on their sides.  I find the scenes with the woman on her tummy extremely interesting, maybe because one of the very first agonies I saw was a young lady on her tummy.  I would be interested to know how the women pick the position they use and why.
