If we increased the size of the videos by 40% in width and height, they'd take twice as long to download. Would that be a step forwards or backwards, what do you each think?

Dear Richard,
I would really like it if you did. When I enlarge my images on either RealPlayer, VCL or Quicktime I get a fuzzy result(VCL though is the clearest). I have a Mac and WMV just downright sucks on the thing. The increased download time would only be about an additional 10 to 15 seconds for me in each case.
For those of you U using dialup... if you spend a lot of time web browsing and dowloading U should splurge and get high-speed ( I have a cable connection and there is no comparison as to speed and connectivity).
PS. I bought a one month membership to this site but I fully intend to renew.

I've got high-speed. Twice as long would be all of 60 seconds.
I leave the Media Player resize to window feature on all the time and 1280x1024 resolution monitor, so the higher res would be nice for me.
But that's also twice the bandwidth for you guys right?
Would it involve a price increase?
Would you go back over the old agonies and update them to the larger format? Could you do an overkill at the higher res as a sample?

I wouldn't mind the increased download time, and I would appreciate the increased picture size -- but Iso's point about your bandwidth is a good one. Please don't price youselves out of the market, and please don't cost yourselves so much money you have to close up shop.

A big step forwards. I don't understand the technicalities, but could you offer a choice - bigger files, or smaller for those who still want them?

bigger, faster, better... (and more expensive of course!?)
It´s always the same discussion - I like the vids as they are right now...

Well firstly no, it wouldn't mean a price increase. Bandwidth is not a huge percentage of the site overhead. We have talked about the idea of offering options and we'd like to do that but with all the new things we have planned for this and other sites, we don't have the programming time available. I like the idea of a test on Overkill, thanks Iso, we'll do that. As for the back catalogue, no we're too busy to redo all that. But the DVD's aren't far away so that will help. Not all clips will go to DVD though.

Would definitely be a step forwards. After all, most of us have fast connections now, and you only have to download it once to enjoy it many times.

Bring it on. Do you have a general idea of who'll be getting the DVD treatment? Will it be done by selecting those with the most number of hits/downloads? Will each disc be mono-sexual or will it be mixed gender like the website?
Increasing the picture size by certain percentage is better than nothing, but on the web you can only go so far, and that won't be enough to satisfy those of us who want the magnitude of quality that only DVD can bring to the screen.
So I'll wait for the thing to come out - hopefully with the increased resolution of mpeg2 it will reveal such a rawness and excess of detail as to force a sense of proximity upon the viewer to make the brains burn through the roof of the skull. That is to say hitherto none of the suscribers has been able to view more than a cloudy, miniaturized, postage stamp version of what is on the raw tapes and the danger is when the real thing hits us we may whisked away by the power of it.
