Vintage Porn

I just got down looking at some vintage porn, as part of some research I’m doing, for a photo project. It is amazing how erotic these prints and movies are, compared to what is offered in the mainstream porn of today. I think two important factors played a role in vintage porn. First, photography was in its infancy, only being invented in 1839, so it was a new medium.  Secondly, sex was a very taboo subject during that era (early 1900’s), and those involved were at great risk of arrest or social shame. But, what struck me was how simple and exciting the images are. The subjects in the films were true amateurs, and there was very little plot, yet the sex seemed very real. The models in the prints were, for the most part “ladies of the night”. I would like to know if anyone else feels that these are erotic in nature.
