I've just had this idea as I've been witnessing great confessions from Beautiful Agony's various artistists and some of them kept side-reminding me of movie-scenes; from films where somebody gets busted (such as “Fast Times at Ridgemont High” (1982) and “We Need to Talk About Kevin”) to motion pictures where the lover plays with the other person's parts (like the - I guess- kinda b-sides “Flirting” (1991-2)).
So I'll just drop a few off the cuff names, and would love to see what'd come up if some of you jumped in as well with whatever are “your” movies/series/perphaps movieclips even where “playing with one's self” is portrayed (either when a character wanks alone, as in “The To Do List” (2013), or also along with somebody else's assistance), “deejaying” is sort of hinted at (as in Greta Gerwig's “Lady Bird”, for example), or anything related really (very freewheeling-like).
Insights, thoughts and blabberantings are rather welcome too.

So, here are a couple of “mine”:
“brilliantlove” (2010) https://vimeo.com/144108893 (has anyone else already seem this movie?),
C.R.A.Z.Y. (2005),
“La vie d'Adèle” (2013),
and series “Maniac” (2018), “Fleabag” (2016) and “Orange Is The New Black” (2013)- Mr. Caputo + et al.
(&, of course, there's the Martin Scorsese's “Wolf of Wall Street” which has a remarkable monologue by Mark Hannah (played by Matthew McConaughey).)

I can't say I enjoy these kinds of scenes while watching TV with the missus and/or the kids. It always comes as a surprise and most of the time it's portrayed as something embarassing (kid getting busted, lonely bastard who can't get "real" sex, etc...)

I know exactly what you mean, Penguin; parents usually get embarrassed when there are kids in the room (and so do the kids, when there are grown-ups watching together and such scenes suddenly spring from out of the woodwork).
(And what about when a song such as Thee Headcoatees's “Come Into My Mouth” randomly plays on the automobile's speakers & you're in the middle of driving a bunch of kids to a birthday party of one of their scuttering buddies? (I'm still blushing from that one, but they've taken it rather lightly).)

(“Lonely bastard who can't get “real” sex” reminds me of Lester in “American Beauty” (1999).)
But hey, I can vouch that some of these movie-scenes are actually nice (I'm quoting from memory here, but I'm pretty sure that there's even a Boarding School Solemnness of sorts to the scene in “Flirting”, for example). They may not always have verisimilitude (especially if compared with B.A.), but there's something truly good about some of them.
That movie “brilliantlove”, for instance, has a very nice scene where Manchester is wanking and Noon helps him get there by telling him a story (probably unwatchable whilst the kids are nearby, but very worthy checking it out).
(There's a moment in Lena Dunham's series “Girls” where something similar also takes place, between Hannah and Adam).

I just got reminded of a couple more references:
One of them is Miranda July's “Me and You and Everyone We Know” (2005), which is available at https://youtu.be/kchQvVjv0Bo .
And the other one is a scene from Sam Levinson's series “Euphoria” (2019), on which Cassie has an unplanned epic flush of organ spasm whilst galloping @ a horse from the public merry-go-round/carousel in front of a swirling sequence of aghasted countenances from the many family's folks who are attending the carnival.

It's rare in movies and series. Just been watching the white lotus with my wife and there's a few bits in there around masturbation, but it is so stereotypical that it made us cringe. Basically the socially inept teenage boy does it because he is so weird and lonely and his sister accuses him of fapping to look cool with her friend. It is portrayed in such a negative manner that it makes me wonder if we'll ever get over the stigma of masturbation.
I like that it is presented in series and movies, but please, please producers and direcotrs, stop making it that awfull disgusting sin to laugh at and understand that it is a beautiful and useful activity.

A funny scene I just remembered is from the series Weeds, where Nancy gets ready for some me-time only to find out the battery of her vibrator gave up on her. In the next scene her son asks why the kitchen clock has no battery...
As far as on-screen wanking is concerned, I feel that when it's a women, it's generally presented as something empowering (she doesn't need a man) whereas when a man is doing it, it's something embarrasing (he can't get laid).
