Sorry if this belongs in General rather than Beautiful Agony (but I'm sure one of our wonderful administrators will move or delete this if I did it wrong) but here goes.

I've seen elsewhere in threads people mentioning agonies they've seen in mainstream movies. So what's or favorite Hollywood Agony?

Some that spring to mind are Bridget Fonda's interupted agony in Single White Female, the mom's agony (I forget the actress' name) in Smallville (where the tree catches on fire) and Penelope Ann Miller's in Little City (in a bathtub)

Maybe you're recalling Anne Heywood (as March) in The Fox (1967)? In USA aka
'D.H.Lawrence's The Fox'. Story originally set in Berkshire countryside (not far from here), but transported to winter Canada for the film. A powerful scene, anyway: for me, probably the first masturbation I saw (or understood, at any rate!) in cinema. It's a shame there aren't more mainstream film agonies out there, but I've seen a few that made an impact:

The DVD for A Love Song for Bobby Long has a deleted scene in which Scarlett Johansson performs a very convincing agony as her character's boyfriend fingers her.
